Team Up Thursday - Week 19

Theme: Eyes

Claire's choice this week and I have to say I had great fun trying to photograph my children's eyes and only their eyes. They say the eyes are the window to the soul and I couldn't agree more, I can tell exactly how my children are feeling when I look into their eyes and as they all have stunning big blue eyes it made the subject easy.

What wasn't so easy was not catching that glazed "is this finished yet" look they kept giving me and it was only once I convinced Phillip to practice his "smeyes" that I was successful. Thank heavens for "America's Next Top Model" which is a hit in our house and explains how to smile with your eyes "smeyes"....who says we can't learn from television ;0)

Love Claires use of black and white in this photo - don't this little darlings eyes just pop out, really tells the story, can't help wondering what those eyes will see as she grows up - really lovely capture Claire!

Team Up Thursday - Week 18

Theme: Pairs

I confess to having this idea in mind before suggesting this theme and although my darling littlest was really not happy to oblige, and didn't give me exactly the shot I was after I am kinda happy with my three "pairs" of feet.

Claire's pic is such a clever play on words and I just love love love it - Well done partner you really cracked it this week :0)

Team Up Thursday - Week 17

Theme: Old

When my brilliant partner Claire sent through this weeks theme I had images of beautiful antique furniture or finding some little gem on a boot sale to photograph, I even imagined using some of our fossil hunting photos but then on Sunday I walked into this magnificent 600 year old church and I knew I had my shot.

Once again Claire's shot is fabulous, I love how we both went a little outside the box. Would love to know how long this tree has been standing and what it has "seen", you can see by the wall in the background the age of the property it is standing in. A really fun theme!

12th September Challenge

The idea behind this challenge is to carry your camera with you through the day and shoot 12 shots on the 12 day of every month....nice record at the end of 12 months...so here goes.

Early start to the morning and I so so wanted to lie in bed with this

But instead I got tossed out of my bed by this :0)

Phil started Rubgy at Haywards Heath Rugby club this morning and all the boys were involved with getting him ready

While Phil and Si were at rugby, Megs, Nick and I went to try out the church in Cuckfield

After the service we joined the boys - Phil was in his total element and LOVED every second

The weather was out of this world with gorgeous blue skies all day

Couldn't resist taking a little time outside over lunch to enjoy the sunshine and my book

Then it was inside to process the photos for a photo shoot I did last weekend

Meggie took the opportunity to chill on the couch while I was working....the sun streams in the window onto that couch in the afternoon and it is simply the BEST place to be

Dinner was finally served - roast chicken wings, chips and peas (good sunday night fare)

Couldn't resist a little virtual shopping in the new argos catalogue whilst Si bathed Nick

Finally the house is quiet and all the children are tucked up and asleep, time for telly

Team up Thursday - Week 16

Theme: Silver

I chose the theme this week because I wanted to force myself to actually take a photo specifically for the challenge, rather than just fall back on something I knew I already had, which I confess has been a large part of my motivation when choosing themes during the summer holidays.

So Silver it is and I must say it turned into more than a challenge than I imagined - because of it's highly reflective nature, silver isn't easy to photograph and I now totally understand the need for a light absorbent background - which of course I didn't have, but below is my attempt, taken in natural window light on my black leather lounge suite.

Claire's shot is awesome and looks like it should be in a jewelry advert, def need to know how she achieved it because the light and colour are perfect.

Team Up Thursday - Week 15

Theme: Light

Claire chose the theme this week and I must say I was quite excited....a really good challenge to get my teeth into, but with school holidays there hasn't been a whole lot of time to go out and take photos specifically for the TUT so once again I have had to fall back on something I had already taken.

Fortunately I just loved the "light" in this one of Phillip running on the beach in Devon, I love the silver of the sea and his shadow on the beach, the light peeping through the clouds in the background....so this is it, my take on this weeks theme, maybe next week I will have a chance to take something specifically with the challenge in mind.

Claire's shot is, as always, spot on - I know it took her a couple of attempts, but it was well worth the effort. LOVE the atmosphere in the photo and the shadows cast by the twinkling fairy lights, find myself staring into them and almost feel as if I am in the room.
